Charles Edward Erickson was an individual who had the gift of spreading goodwill. He’d say, “Now tell me this,” connect with the person, then answer the question himself. A slight, dignified man, he was a pioneer from Sweden, who helped shape the city of Seattle. He opened up to others and lived a full and productive life during his retirement years. In his eighties when he enrolled in a creative writing class at the University of Washington, his classmates dubbed him, “Grandma Moses.”
